MARILYN WIENAND
Ms. Marilyn Wienand holds a Bachelor of Music in Organ, a Masters and Doctorate in Voice and has taught music on the college level for many years. She has been an organist and choirmaster of several churches. She performs widely in North Carolina with church orchestras, for weddings, receptions, parties and other events.
Ms. Wienand specializes in providing harp music for weddings, bringing expertise, elegance and musical flow to the wedding ceremony. She will provide a customized musical program for a ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner or other wedding related event in a style of your choice--classical, jazz, pop, Irish Celtic.
In 1995 Ms. Wienand began playing the harp for people in hospice, hospital and nursing homes. She played original music that had been composed by her late husband, Karl, specifically for these therapeutic situations. Marilyn has always been interested in healing, and the harp was a natural for her to use in her healing work with people who are ill or dying. People seem to receive a real blessing from her music. When she played the harp for hospice patients she saw amazing benefits, such as a group of Alzheimer patients becoming quiet and calm, and a very old man in a coma becoming conscious for a few hours in order to tell his family goodbye.
